Is this the ultimate Chevy Trail Boss with a diesel engine? Is this the new Diesel Boss? This truck has a high-end suspension with adjustable King shocks. It rides on 35-inch off-road tires, and it belongs to Troy – a TFLtruck viewer.
This truck started life as a Silverado 1500 RST crew cab 4×4 with the 3.0-liter I6 turbo-diesel and a Z71 off-road package. Chevrolet does not offer the diesel engine in the Trail Boss, so Troy set out to build what he calls “the Ultimate Trail Boss”.
The truck was built by 454 Motorsports. The Diesel Boss is not much wider than a standard Silverado 1500 4×4. The front is equipped with Mazzulla suspension components and King 3.0 adjustable shocks with remote reservoirs. Up front is a customized bumper that allows for a better approach angle. There are additional off-road lights in the grille. Out back is a customized chase rack in the bed that houses the spare tires, jack, cooler, and more. It still allows Troy to bring a mountain bike or a dirt bike inside the bed.

Troy says: “I am super happy with how the truck came out and cant wait to test it out. I plan on going to Cleghorn trail which is by my house and is more slow speed trail. I go to the desert a lot so our first trip is early October which will be where I do more high speed running.“
This diesel-powered half-ton truck should the clearance, capable suspension, and the diesel driving range to tackle most terrain – and even bring a camping trailer to the desert. Troy will provide another update once he gets more off-road miles in this truck.
