Spied: New 2021 Ford F-150 Raptor Spy Shots Reveal Design And Suspension Overhaul

A new crop of photos broadly reveal what we'd expect, but the rear suspension could see a major overhaul

While the all-new Ford F-150 made its debut back in June, we’ve been left wondering exactly what the Blue Oval has up its sleeve for the upcoming Raptor replacement. Now, some new spy photos shed light on the changes, even if most of this prototype truck is concealed by camouflage.

Up front, it’s clear the brand new F-150 Raptor takes on new styling straight from the revised fourteenth generation design. Massive flared fenders will still be on offer, as you’d expect, as will the beefy BFGoodrich KO2 all-terrain tires.

There’s more underneath the camouflage, though.

What’s more interesting at this point than the (covered) exterior styling, however, is the rear suspension. The biggest giveaway is the exhaust, which Ford has rerouted in this prototype than the outgoing truck. That and the notable absence of leaf springs in these spy shots shows a change to coils instead. That may be a shocking revelation, but we did see a prototype sporting the last-gen body with a similar setup.

Unfortunately, one thing we can’t determine from these spy shots is what the 2021 Ford F-150 Raptor is housing under the hood. More than likely the new truck will continue to use a beefed up version of the twin-turbo 3.5-liter EcoBoost V6 we already know and love. After all, it will soon have to fend off an assault from the powerhouse Ram TRX. The EcoBoost engine has proven a successful part of the Raptor’s character, though, so it’s tough to see Ford shifting away from it short of adding more oomph.

More details on the 2021 Ford F-150 Raptor should emerge before too long, so we may have more answers sooner, rather than later. Stay tuned for more updates!
