We are building what could be the ultimate overland rig! Here is a quick preview of how it’s coming together. We have several full-length video episodes coming soon that will show and explain all of the “best of the best” components within this build!
Ford “Super Tremor” Overland Rig
The basis is a new 2020 Ford F-250 crew cab 4×4 with a FX4 package and a 7.3-liter Godzilla gas V8 under the hood that is mated to a 10-speed automatic transmission. The base power from this “big block” engine is 430 hp and 475 lb-ft of torque. We have much more planned to enhance this beast’s power and power delivery.
First, we partnered with Carli Suspensions in Southern California for a top notch suspension lift system. This is their most advanced Pintop 3.5-inch lift system with Deaver springs and custom-tuned King Shocks.
Next, we needed tough wheels and tires to enable long distance off-road driving. This truck is meant to go cross-country on dirt on the TransAmerica trail. We call this summer adventure “No Pavement Needed”. As such, we selected KMC Wheels and Falken Wildpeak A/T3W tires. The wheels are 18-inch in diameter. The tires are 37-inches in diameter.
Next up is our new mobile office and a place to sleep. We chose what they call the “world’s best camper” by Four Wheel Campers. It’s their top of the line Hawk model.
