The 2020 Nissan Titan is a huge improvement
It’s not an all-new truck, but the 2020 Nissan Titan (and Titan XD) made a huge leap forward with this newest model. The most notable changes come from the new nine-speed automatic transmission and completely revised interior. There are other updates, including some exterior styling updates, but the transmission and interior are notable.
The Titan was already an excellent truck; TFLtruck had a 2018 Titan for over six-months as a long-term tester. It was a Pro-4X that was put through the ringer over time. Check out the Nissan Titan Trials (here). Interestingly, we noted that the two things it needed most were transmission upgrades and a new interior.
I guess Nissan listened.
Just before the quarantine began to kick in, we had an extended loan of a fully loaded 2020 Nissan Titan Pro-4X. Driving this truck reinforced our perspective that Nissan did a damn good job.
It’s not perfect. The popular Pro-4X Crew Cab can haul 1,630 lbs and pull 9,210 lbs. That’s not bad, but it’s not class-leading. The 5.6-liter V8 makes maximum horsepower (400) only on premium fuel. The Titan’s 413 lbs-feet of torque is impressive, but it’s not class-leading either.
In this video, I discuss the Nissan Titan as a viable replacement for domestic pickup trucks. This is in response to an email from a viewer who was looking for a replacement for his GM pickup.
