2021 Cadillac Escalade ESV Long Wheelbase Prototype Caught in Public (Spied Video)

Could this one have the diesel under the hood?

Here is an all-new 2021 Cadillac Escalade ESV long wheelbase spied testing in public near Detroit, MI. This big luxurious SUV made its debut several weeks ago in California, but that land yacht was a short wheelbase version (luxurious cousin to the new Chevy Tahoe).

2021 Cadillac Escalade

The next generation 2021 Escalade is riding on an all-new platform that is longer than before. It makes the switch to independent rear suspension as well. This should further improve the ride quality and offer more interior space for occupants and luggage.

Under the hood is a choice between two refined engine options: a 6.2-liter V8 or a 3.0-liter turbo-diesel I6. Both engines are mated to a 10-speed automatic transmission. There is no official word yet on a gas/electric hybrid or an all-electric versions of the Escalade.

  • 6.2-liter V8 : 420 hp and 460 lb-ft of torque
  • 3.0-liter I6 : 277 hp and 460 lb-ft of torque

These engine ratings are identical to those in the 2020 Chevy Silverado 1500 or GMC Sierra 1500 pickup trucks.

Naturally, the Escalade differentiates itself from all others with unique exterior styling and the most luxurious GM truck interior to date. Check the debut video of this luxurious behemoth at the bottom of this article.

The new Escalade is expected to go on sale this summer, unless the lockdowns have affected the schedule.
