Ram unveils the latest 2021 ProMaster commercial van lineup at the 2020 Work Truck Show and loads it up with many driver convenience, safety, and assistance features. This new commercial van is also the first vehicle in the entire FCA spectrum to feature a rear camera mirror or Digital Rearview Mirror. Below are all the other new features the updated van has.

The rear camera mirror is not a new feature in the industry. General Motors first introduced it several years ago. Now, several other manufacturers are offering this as well. The system uses a rear-mounted camera, and it is usually an additional camera to the one that is dedicate to backup camera duty.

One flick of the mirror switch, and the regular reflecting center-mounted mirror turns into a display for an unobstructed view of what’s behind you. It can be used at any time and at any speed while driving forward or backward. One slight issue I personally noticed with a system like this – it takes my eyes a noticeable second to refocus my eyes on the digital mirror screen versus simply glancing at an actual mirror. This takes some getting used to.

The 2021 ProMaster also features blind spot monitoring with cross path detection. It has forward collision warning with emergency brake assist and ambient/courtesy lights. Crosswind assist is also available to help keep the van going straight in a strong side wind.

Under the hood is a 3.6-liter gas V6 that is mated to a 6-speed automatic transmission. There are still18 distinct ProMaster length and roof height configurations. The ProMaster is still a front-wheel-drive van. There is no available 4×4 system.
