The 2021 Rivian R1T Electric Truck May Cost Less Than Originally Specified

The R1T truck has 7,777 battery cells.

During this weekend’s Rivian event in California, the company CEO said that the upcoming R1T electric pickup truck and R1S electric SUV will have a lower price than originally specified.

According to Rivian, customer will be able to buy a 300-mile range versions of the R1T for $69,000 and the R1S for $72,500. (These prices are listed before federal and state tax incentives.) However, models with less range may come at a lower price. This price will be announced soon.

A company representative also specified that the Rivian trucks use 7,777 battery cells. 7,776 battery cells to power the vehicle plus 1 to power the included flashlight.

Rivian does not say how many $1,000 pre-orders the company received, but they say the number of deposits is significant and it will be a challenge to satisfy all of them.
