GMC Shows Off How Tough Their CarbonPro Bed Is By Firing Lawn Gnomes And Sofas At It, Obviously

GMC will introduce a new TV ad during this weekend’s NFL playoff games showing off the ruggedness of its new CarbonPro bed. We tested how tough it really is back in August, but now it’s GMC’s own turn to see how CarbonPro stacks up, which is already available for sale in the latest GMC Sierra pickup.

But how do you test what the company calls “the world’s most dent, scratch and corrosion-resistant bed?” By firing lawn gnomes out of a cannon at it, naturally. And sofas. And two-by-fours. Pretty much, it seems, any crap they could find lying around to try and prove a point.

2020 GMC Sierra Denali fitted with the CarbonPro bed.

That point being, per GMC’s statement on the upcoming ad, “The GMC Sierra continues to build on its position as the most premium and innovative truck on the market…It was creativity that inspired our advertising team to send CarbonPro into a hurricane-force wind testing facility. We even brought along our competitor’s bed, as you’ll see in the long-form ad. The results speak for themselves!”

Creativity and a desire to see objects explode when they slam into the bed drove the planning behind this ad, I’m sure. That’s okay, since I totally understood that ambition to explode things once the sofa flew into the stationary bed at hurricane speeds. Say what you’d like about the rest of the truck, that’s pretty awesome.
