We Test Them All! These Are the Top 10 Most Fuel Efficient New Trucks When Towing! (Video)

Based on TFLtruck's standard highway MPG loop.

We spent the last five years testing fuel economy on every new pickup truck, and here is the latest list of Top 10 most fuel efficient new trucks when towing.

We run the same route for all of our mpg tests. It’s a stretch of I-76 Interstate between Hudson, CO and Fort Morgan, CO. We test the trucks unladen and with a trailer. It’s a highway test, and we run all loop with the cruise control set at 70 MPH.

This list of most efficient trucks is focused on the half-ton trucks: Ford F-150, GM 1500, Nissan Titan, Ram 1500, and Toyota Tundra trucks.

The following seven trucks were all tested with a 7,000 lbs trailer.

  • (7) Toyota Tundra gas 5.7L V8
  • (6) Ford F-150 gas 5.0L V8
  • (5) Chevy Silverado 1500 gas 6.2L V8
