When Tesla unveiled the Cybertruck on Nov 21, 2019 – the $100 online pre-orders became available for all three version of the truck. The rear-wheel-drive RWD single motor version that starts at $39,900, the dual-motor AWD model that starts at $49,900, and the most powerful tri-motor AWD model with a starting price of $69,900.

Originally, the RWD and dual-motor AWD model were slated to start production in late 2021, and the high-end tri-motor model being available later in early 2022. The release timing plan and priority is now flipped, as the folks at Cybertruck Owner’s Club discovered.

The most expensive tri-motor Cybertruck timeline is now moved up to late 2021, and the RWD single motor is now the late-availability model. The timeline change is most likely due to the pre-order demand. Tesla revealed that approximately 41% of the pre-order customers chose the tri-motor truck, while just 17% were going for the more affordable single-motor model (the remaining 42% were for the dual-motor).

When the Cybertruck will actually reach production and customer driveways of course still remains to be seen. We will keep following the news as it unfolds.
