This new Toyota Tacoma is indeed a very unique truck that we have not seen in person until now. It has a Toyota turbo-diesel under the hood. It’s diesel conversion done by DieselToys.com.

Huge thanks to Ron (the truck’s owner) for bringing it to our test track to share the story and let us run a 0-60 MPH test. We want to know exactly how this truck performs.

Tacke a look at DieselToys.com for more details.

Toyota Tacoma Diesel

The 3.0-liter four-cylinder turbo-diesel is sourced from Australia, and this one came out of a Toyota Prado SUV. The stock power rating is 195 hp and 310 lb-ft of torque. The conversion company offers several tuning packages for the engine to produce more power. This truck has a mild “stage 1” tune on it.

The engine is backed up by a 5-speed automatic transmission. It’s also from a Prado SUV. This powertrain is mounted in a 2018 Tacoma SR5 double cab.

The owner says that he is able to get in the “low 30s” MPG on the highway in this truck.

Our very own Tommy Mica ran a 10.4 second 0-60 MPH in this truck at a mile above sea level. A 2017 Tacoma with a 3.5-liter gas V6 ran a 9.7 second 0-60 MPH at the same track two years ago.

This diesel Tacoma takes off very strong off the line, but the acceleration trails off at the top end. This is very typical for many model turbo-diesel trucks.
