A recent FCA press release confirms the Ram Rebel TRX off-road truck for production. Here is a direct quote: “As part of the Company’s recently unveiled five-year plan, the Ram Rebel TRX concept has been approved for production. More information will be disclosed at a future date.“
Ram Rebel TRX
We know that the original Rebel TRX concept truck that was unveiled at the State Fair of Texas in 2016 was powered by a 6.2-liter supercharged V8 with 575 horsepower. We also know that Ram has built and real-world tested several prototype trucks you can see here.
These prototype trucks have a raised ride height and mismatched front/rear wheel hubs (6-lug in the front and 8-lug in the rear).
We still do not know many other details about the upcoming TRX, but we hope to hear more early next year.
We anticipate that the TRX will have a wider track than the current Ram 1500 Rebel. This should allow the truck to roll on 35-inch off-road tires and offer plenty of off-road prowess. Off-road capability to rival or perhaps beat the current Ford Raptor?
Naturally, Ford is not resting and continues to work on the F-150 Raptor truck, as these recent spy images suggest. This Ford Raptor prototype is using a coil-spring rear solid-axle suspension.
