No More Tesla, But We Will Be at the Toyo Tires Trailpass Event with a Truck (Sep 7, 2019)

We have an urgent update. Our original plan to bring a Tesla Model X with the off-road camping trailer to the Toyo Tires Trailpass event in Oregon had to change. We set out on the 1,200 mile journey in our Adventure X with the trailer, as planned. Roman and Tommy trekked north from Boulder, Colorado on their way to Wyoming, Utah, Idaho, and Oregon.

Our original highway energy consumption test in the Tesla with this Boreas XT trailer was around 520 Wh/mile. However, the crew quickly saw much greater consumption of 800-850 Wh/mile as they progressed to Laramie, WY.  The driving range with the trailer was basically reduced to about 100-120 miles, which make this long haul undoable within our timeframe.

Plan B was our trusty Ram Rebel Rouser long-term project truck. We met the guys in Cheyenne, WY to swap vehicles and re-hitch the trailer. Roman and Tommy are now driving the Rebel Rouser to Oregon.  Naturally, this is all on video, and we will publish exactly what happened to TFLcar Youtube channel soon.

Alex and I will meet them at the Hood River event.  Please come by and say hello to us if you are in the Hood River area on September 7th.
