2021 Ford Raptor Prototype? Here Is a Closer Look at the Real Coil Suspension (Video)

The Raptor may be turning into more of a "trophy truck".

Will the next 2021 Ford Raptor use a rear coil spring suspension? These latest prototype images give us the closest look yet at what may be coming down the line.

2021 Ford Raptor

The new Ford Ranger Raptor that is available for sale in Australia and other markets is already using a solid axle coil spring rear suspension with a Watt’s linkage. Could the next Raptor update use the same type of setup? Let’s take a closer look.

The spy images do not show all of the details, but it does not appear to be a Watt’s suspension linkage. Although, the rear coils are visible under the covers.

There are several other noteworthy details. The dual exhaust system on this prototype is rerouted a bit higher, as the missing leaf springs provide more space underneath.

Also, one prototype is using microphone on the rear exhaust outlets, presumably for tuning the exhaust sound. We have another witness account that says that one of these prototype still sounded like it have a turbocharged V6 (not a V8).

Stay tuned for more details. We will let you know as soon as we get anything new.
