You also get a direct competitor to the new 2020 Ram 1500 Rebel that now has a 3.0-liter EcoDiesel engine. Here is how the numbers stack up.

The Sierra 1500 AT4 is powered by the all-new 3.0-liter straight-six diesel engine that was designed and developed by General Motors specifically for the half-ton truck application. This engine is the horsepower king among all current half-ton 3.0-liter diesels.

The rating is 277 horsepower and 460 lb-ft of torque. The engine is backed up by a 10-speed automatic transmission.

The new 2020 Ram Rebel has the latest 3.0-liter V6 diesel with 260 horsepower and class-leading 480 lb-ft of torque. Ram is using an 8-speed automatic transmission for their half-ton diesel.

The 2020 GMC Sierra 1500 diesel is available for sale now. The pricing for the 3.0-liter Duramax I6 is the same as for the 6.2-liter gas V8.
