Someone caught a fleet testing in Michigan.

Ram thinks the Ford F-150 Raptor has spent a little too much time at the top of the off-road truck heap. We know this, of course, because we’ve seen plenty of Ram 1500 Rebel TRX prototypes testing in recent months. Just last month, we spotted it in our own back yard, unfortunately under a cover. Even better, though, we saw and heard this beast in action back in March.

Now, Jordan Denhoed was in the right place at the right time as he caught a fleet of Ram 1500 Rebel TRX prototypes testing. These trucks were out at Silver Lake Sand dunes, on the western coast of Michigan. 5thGenRam forums posted these images on their site, giving us our first look at these Hellcat-powered Rams in the sand.

Now, these ones sport the same sort of setup we saw back in March. The prototype trucks have a Laramie Longhorn front end, rather than that of the actual Rebel. There are 8-lug axles hanging out at the back, while Ram is using 6-lug axles up front.

Under the hood, we know there’s the massively powerful 707 horsepower Hellcat V8 engine. That 6.2-liter supercharged lump of awesomeness ought to make this truck a monster both on and off-road, but we’re still waiting to see how the final version of this truck will turn out. Ram is beefing everything up for the TRX, though, and we don’t suspect this truck will come cheap.

As the truck makes it closer to production, I’m sure we’ll hear more about this truck’s capabilities. While it may just be a coincidence that these trucks were caught testing at the sand dunes, catching these trucks on photo is a shot across Ford’s bow. Watch out, F-150 Raptor — Ram is coming for you.
