What do you do if a one-ton dually pickup truck is just not enough to pull your big and expensive trailer? Check out this new 2020 Freightliner M2 Summit Hauler big rig. It’s a Class 6 truck that has all the luxury features and heavy truck capability to tackle the biggest towing jobs.

Freightliner M2 Summit Hauler

This rig starts as a Freightliner M2 business class crew cab chassis. Then TransWest takes over and turns it into this luxurious hauler. Under the clam shell hood are a couple of big diesel engine options. This particular truck has a Cummins 8.9L ISL turbo-diesel that is rated at 350 horsepower and 1,150 lb-ft of torque. If this is not enough, there is also a more powerful 505 horsepower engine option with tree pulling 1,850 lb-ft of torque.

The big rig engines are mated to a stout 3200 series 6-speed Allison automatic transmission. This transmission is much more heavy duty than the 1000 series you can find in current GM HD pickup trucks.

This truck is equipped with air brakes, air suspension, air-suspended cab, and an air-suspended driver’s seat. It makes this 13,500 lbs curb weight truck ride pretty nice on the highway. The longer 197-inch wheel base also helps smooth out the ride.

The truck has a 19,500 lbs Gross Vehicle Weight Rating (GVWR), and a towing capacity of about 30,000 lbs. Why choose this Summit Hauler over a new dually pickup truck that has the same or higher towing rating? The bigger class 6 truck offers more heavy-hauling safety. It’s a higher driving position for increased visibility on the highway. It has very powerful air brakes. This is also a truck built for longevity. It does not require any major overhaul until about 500,000 miles.

In the back is a specially designed and built utility bed with lockable storage compartments. It can be configured with a 5th-wheel or gooseneck hitches. There is also a 20,000 lbs rear conventional hitch.

On the inside, it’s soft leather and a folding rear seat that turns into a bed. There are also a navigation system and a way to monitor several cameras around the truck.

The whole 2020 truck you see here starts at $152,000, and it’s available now.
