We recently showed you a Ram Rebel TRX prototype that was caught testing in the Detroit area. This prototype has not been seen before last week. It shows many very interesting features and components, but it also raises a lot of questions.

Ram has not officially announced any specifications, details, or a precise timeline for the Rebel TRX off-road truck.

Now, we get some additional information about the TRX prototype from an insider anonymous source.

The rear 8-lug hubs seen on the prototype will reportedly not make it to a production Rebel TRX. The production truck will have 6-lug hubs at all four corners, according to the source. The prototype is using 8-lug rear hubs due to a current supplier issue.

Below are the additional details.

The truck has bypass shocks all the way around, and they’re electronically adjustable.

There are additional skid plates that protect the transmission and center differential.

The wheels and wheel arches are from the aftermarket. The fender flares are there because the front and rear ends are wider and the tires are bigger. These flares are definitely not production intent.

Does it mean that the Rebel TRX will use active shocks, such as the Live Valve FOX shocks used on the 2019 Ford Raptor? It’s unknown whether Ram will use FOX active shocks, or a similar design from another manufacturer.

Here is everything else we know so far about the upcoming 2021 Ram Rebel TRX.
