2019 Ford F-150 Takes Top Honors Among Crew Cabs in IIHS Crash Testing

The Insurance Institute for Highway Safety has released test results for half-ton crew cab pickup trucks and the Ford F-150 stands out.

That is because among the 11 pickup trucks testing, the 2019 F-150 is the only truck to earn top-tier good ratings in every category, and the truck performed best in the small overlap crash test.

At the time of publication, we only have information from Ford on how the F-150 finished, so stay tuned to TFLTruck for full coverage on every half-ton truck on the market.

The F-150 uses a number of technologies to keep occupants safe, especially in a small overlap collision. Things like an extruded aluminum roof crossmember, an additional frame crossmember, nylon hinge pillar reinforcements that save weight and wheel blockers to keep the wheels from intruding into the passenger compartment.
