2020 Jeep Gladiator Full Towing And Payload Specs: Here’s A Complete Breakdown Of Each Model’s Capacity

If you're looking strictly to tow, you may not want to get the Overland

2020 Jeep Gladiator towing and payload specs

The 2020 Jeep Gladiator Sport has the highest towing capacity.

When FCA revealed the 2020 Jeep Gladiator, we mentioned its 7,650 pound towing capacity. That makes it the midsize segment’s best gas-powered towing vehicle, but there are some qualifications to that. As with any full-size or heavy duty truck, that maximum towing capacity is only available in certain specifications. On that basis, you can’t buy a Gladiator Rubicon and expect to safely tow 7,650 pounds.

We’ve gotten quite a few e-mails asking what the full towing specs are for the 2020 Jeep Gladiator. Fiat Chrysler has published the full towing specs, and we wanted to share that for you here on TFLtruck. It’s important to know that, for instance, you can only tow up to 4,000 pounds with the base, manual-transmission Gladiator Sport. However, the 8-speed automatic Sport model with the Max Tow package — including a 4.10 rear axle ratio — can tow up to 7,650.

Here are the full 2020 Jeep Gladiator towing and payload figures are per Fiat Chrysler’s spec sheet, by trim level:

If you’re just looking for the best towing and payload capability, the 2020 Jeep Gladiator Sport or Sport S would be your best best. The base Sport model provides the best payload capacity, while the optional Max Tow Package with a 4.10 rear axle ratio provides the best towing capability in the Gladiator range.

The Rubicon comes with a 4.10 rear axle as standard equipment, but its maximum towing capacity is limited to 7,000 pounds. The Gladiator Overland only comes with a 3.73 rear axle. As such, it’s limited to just 4,000 pounds when equipped with the six-speed manual, or 6,000 pounds when it has the automatic.

All 2020 Jeep Gladiators launch with the 3.6-liter Pentastar V6 engine. As in the Wrangler, it makes 285 horsepower and 260 lb-ft of torque.
