New 2019 Ram Power Wagon – First Dirt and Mud! (Video)

Here it is – the newly redesigned 2019 Ram Power Wagon playing in the dirt & mud of California. In this video, Roman and Stephen discuss all the changes and updates and show us how the newest Power Wagon handles Gorman, California off-road park.

The 2019 Power Wagon look very much like the outgoing 2018 model, and it’s largely due to the new truck using the same cab and bed as before. The obvious difference are the new LED headlights and tail lamps. The bumpers are also new. In the case of the Power Wagon, a new Warn Zeon 12K winch with a synthetic cable and a new fairlead plate are there. The Power Wagon is still the only truck in the United States that comes with a winch from the factory.

All 2019 Ram heavy duty trucks ride on a new stiffer frame. The Power Wagon gets a slight 0.28 inch suspension lift over the old Power Wagon. It improves clearance and articulation.

Under the hood is still the same 6.4L HEMI V8 with 410 hp and 429 lb-ft of torque, but it’s now mated to an 8-speed ZF automatic transmission. No more 6-speed for the Power Wagon. Ram says the 8-speed, the new anti-vibration modules on the frame, and updates noise-cancelation technology on the interior allow the truck to use V4 (four cylinder mode) more often. All of this is done in the name of fuel economy. Ram says the new truck will get better economy, but heavy duty trucks are not EPA rated, and we have not been able to verify MPG in this first drive.

The 2019 Power Wagon has an all-new interior that it very similar to the all-new 2019 Ram 1500 Rebel interior. It’s not the same. Where the Rebel uses red interior accents and trim, the Power Wagon relies on darker and black tones. The Power Wagon now also get an optional 12-inch infotainment screen.
