2020 GMC Sierra HD Is Coming – V8 Duramax Diesel and 10-Speed Automatic

2020 GMC Sierra HD

GMC continues to tease the upcoming all-new 2020 GMC Sierra heavy duty with another image of the Duramax diesel badge. It is no big surprise that the badge lists the 6.6-liter displacement for the diesel V8 that’s hiding under the hood. There is also an “Allison Transmission” down below.

What power and torque rating can we expect from the new truck? When Chevy unveiled the 2020 Chevrolet Silverado HD, the press release listed the new V8 diesel at 910 lb-ft of torque. This is the same rating as the L5P 6.6L V8 that is currently available in 2019 HD trucks from GM.

Will GMC differentiate itself with more torque and horsepower? Will GMC chase the new Ram HD trucks and their 1,000 lb-ft of torque? GMC has traditionally kept the same engine ratings for the Sierra trucks as the Silverado trucks from Chevy.

As for the Allison-branded transmission, it is likely the 10-speed automatic that Chevrolet already announced.
