Here is another look at the new 2019 Ram HD trucks. This time it’s a Mega cab truck with the Ram Box cargo system.

The cab, the bed, and tailgate appear to be very similar (if not exactly the same) as on the current Ram HD trucks. How do we know it’s a prototype of a newly redesigned 2019 model? The new rear LED tail-lights with the radar sensor for the blind spot monitoring system suggest that it’s the new truck.

Many other outlets have captured the new Ram HD trucks in public without any camouflage, although the new trucks have not been officially unveiled yet. There is another profile poor-quality image of this prototype that shows the new hood and headlight design (not shown here).

This prototype is riding on chrome rims (perhaps a new design?), and on the side is what appears to be a power-folding side step. This could be a new Limited or Laramie Longhorn luxury version of the truck.

If this is indeed what the production 2019 Ram HD trucks will be, it’s interesting to see that Ram will continue to use the existing cabs, including the stretched Mega cab.

We still don’t know what’s under the hood or under the body of this new heavy hauler. Will the engines be significantly upgraded? Will they use new transmissions? Has the chassis been updated? Will the Cummins diesel get class-leading torque? We will have these answers in January 2019 at the Detroit Auto Show (NAIAS).
