GMC Multi-Pro Tailgate is Coming to the Silverado…Eventually

2019 GMC Sierra Denali MultiPro Tailgate Inner Gate Work Surface

The new Multi-Pro tailgate on the GMC Sierra isn’t available on the Chevy Silverado just yet, but an inside source says it won’t stay that way.

A source inside GM recently confirmed to The Fast Lane Truck that the multi-pro tailgate will arrive for the Silverado, though it’s not likely to happen for at least two years, meaning the 2020 Silverado will probably be the first with the Multi-Pro.

Multi-Pro is one of the features that GM wants to differentiate the two trucks, so for the near future, it will be only at GMC. The availability of a carbon fiber bed and an AT4 off-road truck with the 6.2-liter V8 are just two other ways that GM has made its half-ton twins different, not to mention styling. At Chevy, you can get the AT4-equivalent Trail Boss only with a 5.3-liter V8.

The Multi-Pro can be setup in six different configurations for different needs, including a work station or a step into the bed. Other features, such as a set of exterior speakers, can also be added to the unique tailgate setup.

The one feature on the GMC that you shouldn’t expect from Chevy? That would be the carbon fiber bed, which we were told will remain unique to GMC, partly because the cost will be so high, it fits better with the GMC’s already premium image and MSRP.
