The new Ford Expedition is picking up sales momentum in a big way. It is now the number one selling full-size SUV in the United States in August 2018, in the absence of the sales numbers from General Motors for the month. GM is now reporting sales quarterly.
In general, there are four stand-out SUVs that saw sales success in August 2018. The Expedition climbed to first place over the Dodge Durango with 94.6% sales improvement. The Durango also saw a very good month with 18% sales improvement over last year. The new Lincoln Navigator more than doubled its August 2017 sales numbers. The Infiniti QX80 was another luxurious SUV that improved by 18.5%.
While the Toyota Land Cruiser improved sales in August, it sold just 273 SUVs during the month. It is still in last place on this list.
The Nissan Armada, Toyota Sequoia, and the Lexus LX all saw a sales slow down in August, when compared to last year.
