Compared: 2019 Ram 1500 Limited vs 2018 Ford F-150 Limited – Which Luxury Truck is Better? (Video)

Average transaction prices for pickup trucks have been steadily climbing for years, and we now live in world where an $80,000 truck is common place.

These luxury trucks offer all the best amenities that each brand has to offer, and the appetite for these luxury monsters seems to be increasing by the day. The trucks we tested are a 2018 Ford F-150 Limited and 2019 Ram 1500 Limited, both of which represent the top-trim from each brand when it comes to half-ton pickups.

Features on the pair include power running boards, panoramic moonroofs, 360-degree camera angles, automated driving aids such as lane departure warning, lane-keeping assist and adaptive cruise control, a system which can operate in stop and go traffic on both models.

The 2019 Ram Limited’s 12-inch touchscreen truly sets it apart in the luxury truck category today, as no other brands offers a technological center piece quite as impressive in a half-ton. Though what it may lack in screen size, the F-150 makes up for with turbo power.

Our test trucks were fitted with a 3.5-lited EcoBoost turbocharged V6 engine making 375 horsepower and 470 lb-ft of torque in the F-150,  and a 5.7-liter HEMI V8 making 395 hp and 410 lb-ft of torque in the Ram.

We do know a 2019 Ford F-150 is coming with even more power (450 hp and 510 lb-ft of torque from a 3.5L EcoBoost), but for this comparison, only the 2018 F-150 was available to us. Once the big horsepower version arrives, watch for a rematch!

The biggest question with these two is price, and they don’t come cheap. As they appear in the video, our Ram 1500 Limited costs $85,265 Canadian, while the Ford F-150 Limited we tested is worth $81,749 Canadian.

When it comes to driving these two, they set themselves apart even further. The F-150 offers much more urgent power than the Ram 1500, though the Ram seems to float down the road effortlessly compared to the F-150’s stiffer, busier ride.

There are plenty more differences, but you’ll have to watch the full video above to hear the rest of our thoughts on these two rigs.
