2019 Ram 1500 Spotted Testing on Pikes Peak, Could it Be the New EcoDiesel?

An eagle-eyed TFLTruck reader has sent us a set of photos showing a 2019 Ram 1500 mule running down Pikes Peak, a great place to test the capability of any vehicle.

According to our amateur spy photographer friend Matt Davies, the truck testing here could be heard running a diesel engine, a choice not yet available to the public in the new 2019 Ram. The truck was spotted coming down the long stretch of road on Pikes Peak, doing its best to stay off the brakes no doubt to test the engine braking capability.

Camouflage on the roof could be hiding some kind of revision to the dual-pane panoramic sunroof.

A spokesperson for the Ram brand has confirmed to TFL that the 1500 EcoDiesel is still on track to be released in 2019, but so far, specific dates haven’t been announced.

The 3.0-liter EcoDiesel is expected to produce 260 horsepower and 442 lb-ft of torque when it arrives. Those are the specifications that were announced for the Jeep Wrangler EcoDiesel, though they have yet to be confirmed for the Ram.
