Ford announces that the luxurious 2019 Ford F-150 Limited will get the high-output Raptor twin-turbo V6 for class leading horsepower and torque. How much power? We are talking about 450 horsepower and 510 lb-ft of torque that is channeling the power via a 10-speed automatic transmission.

What’s the big deal? Hasn’t the new F-150 Raptor had this same engine for nearly two years now? That’s correct, but this 2019 F-150 engine option expands the possibilities. If you love the extra power, but you do not want the big and wide Ford Raptor – this is another option for you.

This may be a disappointment for those of you who were hoping for the new 7.0L V8 in the F-150. Still, 450 horsepower in a pickup truck is nothing to be upset about. The F-150 Limited with this engine is likely to weigh less than a comparable Raptor. It means this could be the quickest accelerating F-150 ever. We will have to wait to test it ourselves to be sure.

The 2019 F-150 Limited exterior looks practically identical to that of the 2018 model. The only visual clue to the high-output engine within are the dual chrome exhaust tips that are poking out straight back.

Naturally, Ford paid special attention to the interior features and quality of the new Limited edition. Every feature that is currently available in the F-150 is there in this 2019 truck as well. It includes the Wifi hotspot for up to 10 devices. How nice is the interior? We will have to reserve judgement until we see it in person and climb in.

The 2019 F-150 high-output Limited 2WD is rated at 11,100 lbs of maximum towing and 1,520 lbs of total payload. The 4×4 version of the truck is rated quiet a bit lower at 9,300 lbs of towing and 1,270 lbs of payload. The truck is still rolling on 22-inch rims and low profile tires. These are the likely the limiting factors for towing and payload ratings.

This new truck will be available for sale in “late 2018”, according to Ford. The company did not announce pricing for the truck. We expect the pricing of this configuration to meet or exceed $70,000.

If you are wondering how quick the 2018 Ford F-150 Raptor versus the “regular” 3.5L EcoBoost V6 in the F-150 – wonder no more! Watch the drag race below.
