FCA and Ram trucks have recently announced their five-year plan that was filled with many interesting pieces of information, including a Ram TRX and a midsize Ram pickup by 2022. The report also included one very concrete date: “new Ram HD is coming in January 2019” (see screenshot of the presentation below). This an exciting prospect and an aggressive timeline set by Ram, considering the all-new 2019 Ram 1500 went on sale just about two months ago.
It’s not completely clear whether the all-new Ram heavy duty will make a debut in January and then go on sale a few months later, or whether it will be ready to go on sale in January. It’s also not completely clear if it will be called a 2020 Ram HD or 2019 Ram HD. I am betting more towards the 2020 model year.
Ram is as serious as ever about competing and beating the latest heavy duty trucks from Ford and GM. Ford has announced that an updated Super Duty is coming in 2019. Chevrolet is working hard on an all-new 2020 Silverado HD within the 2019 calendar year timeframe as well.
All we can say now is – 2019 will be another very exciting year for all of us: heavy duty truck consumers and enthusiasts.
