Here is a 2020 Chevy Silverado 2500/3500 heavy duty prototype that Trever A. caught testing near Las Vegas, Nevada. It’s a crew cab truck with a standard bed. The interesting part are the big chrome wheels on what looks like a 4×4 HD. Could this be the next luxurious High Country version of the truck?

(All prototype images you see here were provided by Trever.)

GM made an announcement in April 2018 that the next generation of the heavy duty pickups is coming in Q3 2019. We still have more than a year to wait for the new truck, but we can learn a little more from the prototype. The visible details include prototype headlights, side towing mirrors, the rear exhaust, and what looks like unique white-body rear shock absorbers. These could be Rancho shocks that are available currently on the HD Z71 models.

This prototype also sports black and chrome side steps that span the space under the doors, but do not appear to extend all the way back to the rear wheel.

If GM is using aluminum doors, hood, and tailgate on the new HD truck (just like on the upcoming 2019 light duties) – the new truck should gain a bit of payload capacity. Will the 2020 HD dually be rated to tow 30,000 lbs or more? We will not know the precise specifications until 2019 calendar year.

Here is everything we know so far about the upcoming 2020 Chevy Silverado heavy duty truck lineup.
