Honda Civic Type R Truck… Is a Toyota Camry Pickup Next?

Honda Civic Type R pickup truck

No need to adjust your screen or newsfeed. It’s not an April Fools joke. Honda’s team of engineers did build this one of a kind Civic Type R pickup truck for fun, and also potentially to see if they can grab the records for the fastest front-wheel-drive pickup truck around the Nurburgring.

The car (or truck) retains its 2.0-liter turbocharged engine that produces just over 300 horsepower. The 6-speed manual transmission is also there. The designers chopped the top, added a flat load floor, smoothed out the rear doors into bed sides, but left the rear wing and the hatch/trunk as they were.

There is also a sports bar / roll bar behind the cab that provides rigidity and a place to mount extra lights. What do you think? Would you like to see this Civic pickup attempt a Nurbugring record or is this something that does not even move your needle.

BMW did make an M3 pickup truck several years ago. This begs the question: what’s next? Will we see a Toyota Camry truck? With the cars losing favor across the industry, perhaps we will be seeing more tiny truck concepts like this.
