New, Not Final, Nissan Frontier: I Got a Base Truck and It’s Perfect (Reader Rides)

We get the best feeling, when something we do genuinely helps others. We recently received the following message from Conrad that refers to a Nissan Frontier long-term review video series – The Final Frontier.

Thank you for your Final Frontier series. I ended up buying one in March because of your YouTube videos. I couldn’t be happier.

I wanted a truck that was reliable, simple, & robust; this 2018 Frontier S King Cab fit the bill. It’s the exact configuration you had on your show except in red!! I got it for $21,000 out the door. I’d say that’s a pretty awesome deal. Thanks guys, for focusing on work trucks that the common man can afford.

As a side note, I had originally intended on buying a Tacoma SR 4×4 with the 4-cylinder and manual transmission but since they quietly discontinued that configuration I decided to go with the Frontier. I wrote Toyota to express my disappointment about this. For the better part of thirty years Toyota has offered a 4×4 pickup with a 4 cylinder engine and a manual tranny but now they’ve disappeared. Now only way to jump into a 2018 Toyota pickup with a manual tranny is to spend over $31,000 dollars and that is just not something I’m going to do. I love Toyota but they’ve disappointed me with this.

The Frontier is perfect!! Everything I need & nothing I don’t!!! I named the Frontier “The Rocinante”. Thanks TFL guys.

The Rocinante is a name of Don Quixote’s horse in the novel Don Quixote by Miguel de Cervantes.

We often review trucks that cost $60,000, $70,000, or over $80,000. However, we work hard to test and feature trucks that far more simple and more affordable. The current Nissan Frontier is the most affordable new pickup truck in America with a starting price of $18,990 before destination charges.

Check out the 6-month summary video of the Nissan Frontier S King Cab below.
