New 2019 Ram 1500 HEMI Gets an MPG Ratings, and It’s The Same 2018 Truck (News)

The EPA fuel economy ratings for the new 2019 Ram 1500 V8 are finally here. The government rates the HEMI V8 4×4 truck at 15 MPG in the city, 21 MPG on the highway, and 17 MPG combined. This happens to be exactly the same as the previous generation of the truck – the 2018 Ram 1500 with the same engine.  The story is the same with the 2WD version which is rated at 22 MPG on the highway (see the comparison images below).

Ram trucks made the new 2019 truck 225 lbs lighter on average with more high-strength steel and aluminum hood and tailgate. They improved the aerodynamics of the truck. The company is targeting a 10% fuel economy improvement for the truck with the eTorque 48-volt mild hybrid system.  The 2019 Ram 1500 V6 eTorque is not yet rated. Neither is the V8 eTorque powertrain.

Here is our first drive review of the truck. Stay tuned for much more about the 2019 Ram 1500.
