Will We Get a Hellcat-Powered Ram Rebel TRX is 2020 or Beyond? (Op/Ed)

2019 Ram 1500 Rebel – Black Interior

Will Ram build a Rebel TRX off-road desert-runner with a supercharged Hellcat HEMI V8 under the hood? The introduction of the all-new 2019 Ram 1500 Rebel has once again raised questions about the ultimate TRX truck. Ram first showed the TRX concept at the 2016 State Fair of Texas, and they received a very positive reaction from the enthusiasts and consumers. However, that was at the end of the lifecycle of the older Ram half-ton truck. Can a company invest the development and certification money into an old truck to make a special version, or do you wait until the new generation of the truck comes out. We think it’s the latter.

The new 2019 Ram Rebel has a one-inch suspension lift, two choices for suspension (steel coils and air springs), two engine options (V8 HEMI and V6), and two cab configurations (extended and crew cabs). It appears that Ram is very serious about the off-road version of their latest truck but offering a lot of choice.  The TRX would be a natural progression, but one that may take a year or two to come out. The company needs time to properly launch and sell the regular truck, which is the bread and butter for the company.

One interesting thing to note: the production 2019 Ram Rebel and the Rebel TRX concept trucks have nearly identical hood design.

We have no official word from Ram about this, as companies do not comment of future product plans. We think the chances are relatively good for a 2020 or 2021 Ram Rebel TRX.
