EPA has released official fuel economy rating for the all-new 2018 Ford Expedition. The 2WD version of the 3.5L EcoBoost V6-powered full-size SUV gets a rating of 17/24/20 MPG (city/highway/combined).

The latest Expedition is powered by two version of the 3.5L EcoBoost twin-turbo V6. The standard version of the engine has a rating of 375 hp and 470 lb-ft of torque. The 10-speed automatic transmission does the shifting. This is basically an engine and transmission shared with the 2018 F-150. The luxury version of the Expedition gets a slight power bump.

The 4×4 version of this truck has the same rating of 17 MPG in the city, but the highway and combined ratings go down to 22 MPG and 19 MPG respectively. It’s interesting that the 4WD system is able to maintain the same city rating.

Will the new 2018 Expedition match these EPA ratings in the real-world? We are yet to test it, but our initial time with the 2018 Ford F-150 suggests that the new “Eco” drive-mode tuning is able to improve real-world efficiency of the 3.5L TT V6. We will be sure to run the new Expedition and the F-150 on our 100-mile highway MPG loop to bring you the latest numbers. Please stay tuned for this.
