Some trucks are cleaner than others, and this 1974 Ford F250 4×4 Highboy is a pristine example of a very cool truck. We are partial to the truck, because one of our team – Tommy Mica – owns his own 1974 HighBoy that we affectionately call “Rusty Boy“. Naturally, Rusty Boy has lots of rusted out panels and a tired engine with a worn out camshaft.

Highboy is a nickname that enthusiasts gave the “factory-lifted” Ford F-250 4×4 of that era. The truck is unique as it has a divorced transfer case which allows for equal-length driveshafts for front and rear axles. This design was adopted to make the very first Big Foot monster truck.

Todd, owner of this truck, was gracious to walk us around his truck and tell us more about. This is indeed an immaculate example of a Highboy. The truck looks brand new!

It’s difficult to keep the truck this nice, but Todd and the previous owner (two-owner truck) kept the rig in top shape. They prevented rust, replaced a cracked engine block, and added a giant winch in the front.

What is the engine? There is some controversy about this, but many of these F250s came with a 360 cu-in carbureted V8. Many people also say it could also be a 390 cu-in V8, but in practice the two are extremely difficult to tell apart.

Check out the sweet Highboy right here.
