Electric pickup trucks are inevitable. The Havelaar Bison concept is the next entry on the scene. This is a Canadian-built concept that is using batteries to feed dual electric motors, front and rear. This is an all-wheel-drive concept, and Havelaar constructed it in collaboration with the University of Toronto.

The company says the truck will be able to go approximately 186 miles on a single charge. This an impressive claim, but many other specifications are unknown. We don’t yet know the payload and towing capabilities of such a truck. Also, it’s unknown when or if the company plans to put it into production.

The Bison is said to withstand harsh Canadian winters. It’s build on carbon-fiber reinforced steel chassis, which should make for a rigid platform to allow for advanced suspension tuning and load carrying characteristics. The interior of the Bison simple and features a large vertical center infotainment screen (reminiscent of the Tesla Model S and Model X).

If produced, the Bison may compete against the still-to-be-produced Workhorse W15 and the planned pickup truck from Tesla.

What do you think about the Bison and electrification of pickup trucks in general. Obviously, an electric truck is not for everybody, and it is a viable option for pickup consumers of tomorrow?
