2017 Ford Raptor vs. Ram Power Wagon: For $63K, Which One Would You Buy? [Video]

The 2017 Ford Raptor and the 2017 Ram Power Wagon could not be more different. Still, both trucks represent ultimate off-road capability and fun in their respective classes (half-ton and heavy duty respectively). The two trucks you see here happen to list for exactly the same price – $63,000. The question is: which one would you buy if you had $63K right now? Will it be the nearly fully loaded 2017 Ford Raptor extended cab truck or a fully loaded 2017 Ram Power Wagon crew cab?

Each truck has the hardware to tackle very difficult off-road situations, but each truck also has their own specialty. The Raptor is happy at high-speed desert running. The Power Wagon is happy to slowly crawl over rocks.

The Raptor has solid rear axle with a locker and 4.10 gears. Up front is an independent suspension with a Torsen automatically locking differential and 4.10 gears. The 3-inch diameter Fox Racing shocks help the truck handle high speed off-road runs. The 2017 Raptor is currently the most powerful factory pickup truck with 450 horsepower and 510 lb-ft of torque coming from the high-output version of its 3.5L EcoBoost V6. The Raptor rides on 35-inch BFGoodrich KO2 all-terrain tires.

The Power Wagon rides on heavy front and rear solid axles with 4.10 gears and lockers. It has a discounting front sway bar, and a factory-installed winch to top it off. Power comes from a familiar 6.4L HEMI V8: 410 horsepower and 429 lb-ft of torque. The truck rides on Bilstein shocks and 33-inch Goodyear Wrangler Duratrac tires.
