Based on the micro-sized Honda ACTY KEI pickup/van, the Honda T880 Pickup Truck Concept has a turbocharged (E70C) 660cc three-cylinder engine and a manual transmission. The Honda T880 Pickup Truck Concept debuted at the 2017 Tokyo Auto Salon. While that engine size seems odd, (considering the T880 badge), Honda says it gives you the sensation of driving an 880cc KEI pickup. The interior bits came from the current Honda Vamos van.
Not to be confused with the Tokyo Auto Show, the Tokyo Auto Salon is aimed at tuners and customizers. Nippon Auto Parts Aftermarket Committee (NAPAC) organizes the show which took place in mid January 2017. Honda participated, surprising the crowd with this retro vehicle.
Unfortunately, KEI cars and trucks are unable to pass the DOT/NHTSA requirements for legalization in the United States. While some enter as farm/industrial vehicles, (in most states) they cannot be driven on public roads. Regardless, I want to drive this thing.
Currently, KEI trucks like this make about 53 hp and around 35 lb-ft of torque. Honda has a 4×4 version of their current ACTY truck along with an automatic transmission option. Maximum payload is between 400 and 500 lbs, depending on the vehicle and these little trucks usually weigh in at under a ton.
It’s possible that this design might point the way to the next Honda ACTY.
Speaking of Honda pickup trucks…
