Update:

We asked Ford the question about the 2017 F-150 with the 10-speed and the 2017 Raptors that are being held at the factory for retrofits. Ford spokesperson said that factory quality control procedures found some issues that required retrofits, and that 2017 Raptors and F-150s are beginning to ship to dealers now.

We recently published a message from Ford’s Field Operations office that stated that over 15,000 2017 model year Ford F-150s with the 10-speed automatic transmission and 2017 Ford Raptors are being held at the factory for retrofits. Exact number of trucks being held up is unknown, but these images suggest that there are many new Ford Raptors that are waiting in Dearborn. A local Ford dealership in Colorado told TFLtruck that some 2017 F-150s and Raptors are being shipped, so customers should start receiving their trucks soon. Your dealership should be able to tell you the status of your truck.

It is also unknown what retrofits are required. However, this appears to affect only the trucks with the 3.5L EcoBoost V6 and the 10-speed automatic transmission. Although, the Ford Raptor is using a high output version of the 3.5L engine.

We will be driving the 2017 Raptor today and tomorrow at the launch event near San Diego. We will ask the question about the truck deliveries and will update you as soon as possible.

Here is our first ride-along in the new 2017 Ford Raptor.
