There are a very select few vehicles that ever get blessed with the beauty that is a twin-turbocharged V8 engine. What is most surprising is that one of those vehicles is now a Toyota Land Cruiser. The 2016 SEMA show is currently underway in Las Vegas, NV and Toyota have taken the show as an opportunity to show off their idea of a heavily modified Land Cruiser. This 220MPH Land Speed Cruiser has spent quite a bit of time on the lift in order to reach a claimed top speed of 220MPH.

Toyota have obviously had to do a ton to this Land Cruiser to achieve the ludicrous top speed that they claim. Unsurprisingly, a large center of attention on the project has been under the hood. Not one, but two turbos flank this SUV’s 5.7L V8, which doesn’t sound too absurd at first, until you realize that each Garrett turbo is roughly the size of a volleyball. With this simple addition, Toyota is able to advertise a horsepower figure north of 2,000. Of course a big engine can only take a car so far before physics have to step in, so the Land Speed Cruiser has been lowered slammed to the ground and given an aggressive front splitter and a more aerodynamic hood.

It is the culmination of these modifications that allow this Land Cruiser to reach speeds that edge out a Ferrari Enzo, albeit mostly because it has more than triple the horsepower. Regardless, It seems Toyota have truly captured the essence of SEMA with this car by engineering an otherwise run-of-the-mill SUV into something that can blow the wheels off of 95% of its competition.

To see more outlandish builds and ridiculous feats of engineering, be sure to keep your eyes locked on both TFLtruck.com and TFLcar.com for full coverage of the show through November 4th.

Of course Toyota is not the only manufacturer revealing crazy new cars at SEMA, to see what Chevy have come up with, be sure to watch the video below:
