The 2017 Ford Raptor has not even reached the dealerships yet, but a race-prepared version of the Raptor finished the grueling 2016 Baja 1000 race, competing in the Stock Full class against four other trucks.

Greg Foutz was behind the wheel, and the team has released the following statement.

Well we made it. The stock 2017 Ford Raptor finished the Baja 1000. Way cool. Special thanks to our team and Ford for the effort. This is one tough truck. Finished on the same tires we started on. Thanks BF Goodrich for the all terrain tires that are so good. Fox shocks were the ticket to take the abuse for the suspension and thanks to the guys who pitched in on the driving crew.

The 2017 Raptor that participated in the race is basically the same truck that Ford has fielded in the Best in the Desert racing series. The truck has safety-related modifications including a racing cage, racing seats, and navigation equipment.

Ford already began production of the 2017 Ford Raptor. The trucks are expected to reach dealerships by early December. We are excited to drive the all-new Raptor, and we will get a chance to do it the first week of December.

In the meantime, here is our first ride in the truck with exhaust sound.
