The Ford F-Series continued to lead full-size truck sales in September, but Ram made big monthly strides to jump into second place over the GM twins.

The Ford’s sales were down slightly for the month with a 2.6-percent drop, but it was enough to extend its yearly lead over the next-highest Chevrolet Silverado.

Speaking of the Chevy, sales for both of GM’s full-size trucks were down for the month. The Silverado was down 15.5 percent while the GMC Sierra was down 8.5 percent.

This drop, plus a monthly sales increase of 29 percent, allowed Ram to jump into second place for the month. For the year, it’s still trailing the Chevy, but sales are up eight percent over last year.

Further down the list, both Japanese entries – the Toyota Tundra and Nissan Titan – had positive sales months, with the Nissan more than doubling last year’s sales.

For the record, the GM twins’ combined sales of 63,448 for the month and 589,996 for the year still trail the F-Series.
