2017 Toyota Tacoma TRD Pro Cliffhanger 2.0 Off-Road Review [Video]

2017 toyota tacoma trd pro rocky mountain off-road review

We get awfully excited about new trucks at The Fast Lane Truck. Case in point is the 2017 Toyota Tacoma TRD Pro. It is the most off-road worthy Tacoma, and possibly the most off-road worthy factory midsize pickup truck on the market today.

This is an early video preview of our tough off-road trail test. You have the opportunity to watch at TFLtruck.com first, before the video goes public on youtube this weekend.

What is the best way to evaluate an off-road truck? It’s to take it on a difficult trail, and the Cliffhanger 2.0 is that trail for us in the Rocky Mountains. This is the way we measure the toughest and most off-road worthy trucks. It’s not the most extreme trail, but we chose it because it is very steep and riddled with large lose rocks and a couple of ledges. Please remember that we cannot do damage to the brand new trucks from the manufacturer fleets.

The 2017 Tacoma TRD Pro is special because it’s an inch wider, has two inches more of ground clearance, equipped with 2.5-inch FOX racing shocks with remote reservoirs and special suspension tuning. The truck has a thick aluminum skid plate up front and a unique look to differentiate it from the rest of the Tacoma lineup. It is equipped with Crawl Control system, electronically controlled LSD, and a locking rear differential. It has the hardware to tackle some tough terrain.

Can it handle the hard side of the Cliffhanger 2.0 and the Razor Bend ledge? Check out this early video preview, as Roman and Nathan take the truck high into the Rocky Mountains.
