Ford is hard at work on the next generation of the Ford Expedition and the Lincoln Navigator. The company showed a Lincoln Navigator Concept SUV at the 2016 New York Auto Show. While the crazy gull wing doors and triple steps are not likely to make production the overall size, proportions, and style will translate into Ford’s next generation of full-size SUVs. Enter the next generation of the Ford Expedition.

Thanks for TFL reader, Dylan Woodsize, for sending this image of what appears to be the 2018 Ford Expedition test mule vehicle. The size of the vehicle is difficult to judge in this image, but make no mistake about it – this is indeed a big three-row SUV.

Expect this SUV to be EcoBoost V6-powered and aluminum-bodied. Will it have an option for turbo-diesel V6? There is no official information on this. Take a look at the exhaust outlet on this test mule. It does not appear to be a diesel (with cooling slits). Don’t expect the production Expedition to have this “trumpet” style exhaust tip. Although this one is a large diameter, test mule vehicles that with emissions measurement equipment often use exhaust tips like this.
