The 2017 Ford Raptor Is EPA Rated at 15 MPG City / 18 MPG Highway

2017 ford raptor epa mpg specs
Official: 450 hp and 510 lb-ft of torque

The 2017 Ford Raptor puzzle is nearly complete.

Ford officially confirms the specs of the high-output Gen2  3.5L EcoBoost V6 at a whopping 450 hp and 510 lb-ft of torque. This confirms earlier specification data that we reported on. This is a big jump of 39 horsepower and 76 lb-ft of torque over the 6.2L V8 that resided in the first generation truck.

Ford claims an approximate weight savings of 500 pounds over the old Raptor. The power bump and curb lower weight combine for an average 21% improvement in power-to-weight ratio. When you throw the 10-speed automatic transmission in the mix, the result is a 23% improvement in fuel efficiency. Ford received EPA fuel economy estimates of 15 MPG city, 18 MPG highway, and 16 MPG combined. This is clear improvement when you consider that the original Raptor was rated at 13 MPG combined.

How did Ford achieve the power levels of the high-output 3.5L V6? Here is what the company has to say:

Among the high-output EcoBoost performance enhancements for Raptor are more aggressive turbo compressors with increased boost calibrations, cast stainless steel manifolds and full dual exhaust, oil-cooled pistons and more aggressive engine control calibrations.

Ford says that the Raptor will start arriving at dealerships in late November of this year.

The only major piece of the puzzle that remains – how does it drive? We hope to get our hands on the truck soon, before it reaches dealerships this Thanksgiving.
