The 2017 Chevy Silverado is getting incremental upgrades for the new model year. While this is not a significant redesign, the updates include important safety and convenience features. This information is based on the 2017 Silverado 1500 order guide.
The 2017 Silverado half-ton receives the following changes:
- Loses three colors: Slate Grey Metallic, Tungston Metallic, and Autumn Bronze Metallic
- Adds two colors: Graphite Metallic and Pepperdust Metallic
- All models and trims get a capless fuel fill system (pickup box delete models will continue with fuel caps)
- Enhanced Driver Alert package includes Low Speed Mitigation Braking and Lane Keep Assist
- Adds Teen Driver mode
- Chevrolet MyLink system inclides Android Auto
- High Country package now includes: Enhanced Driver Alert package, IntelliBeam headlights, power-adjusted pedals, and heated leather-wrapped steering wheel
- Gets a new P265/65R18 off-road tire
- Maximum towing capacity is now at class leading 12,500 lbs.
It’s interesting to note the switch to a capless fuel fill system, as well as the availability of the Low Speed Mitigation Braking feature. We will get more details on the brake-assist system soon. For now, we know that the Low Speed Mitigation Braking is enabled by a combination of video camera and radar inputs. The Lane Keep Assist system is camera-based only.
Power level remain the same. The 5.3L V8 still makes 355 horsepower @ 5,600 rpm and 383 lb-ft of torque @ 4,100 rpm. The 6.2L V8 continues with 420 horsepower @ 5,600 rpm and 460 lb-ft of torque @ 4,100 rpm.
