Pickup truck wars could not be any more intense than they are right now. July 2016 saw Chevy Silverado and GMC Sierra collectively outsell the Ford F-Series by a big margin. Ford sold 65,657 trucks during the month, while GM sold 76,544 Silverados and Sierras. This is a significant difference of 10,887 units. Ford is still up and most improved with the Year-To-Date (YTD) sales.

Part of the Ford sales slowdown has to do with the Super Duty truck lineup generation change-over. Out with the steel-bodied 2016 Super Duty and in with the all-new aluminum-bodied 2017 Super Duty.

GM is getting more aggressive with the sales incentives on its full-size pickup truck lineup. Still, Chevrolet pickup truck division is down when compared to last year’s sales. On the other hand, GMC trucks are doing very well with 13.2% improvement over July 2015.

Ram is still doing good as the company got very close to cracking the 40,000 trucks sold during the month of July. Nissan Titan sales are slowly improving and this will continue as the company rolls out the Titan single-cab and the light-duty version of the 2017 Nissan Titan.

Toyota Tundra is holding steady in July when compared to July of last year. However, it is down 8.5% in YTD sales.

We are looking forward to updated HD offerings from GM and HD. How will the competition respond to Ford’s 925 lb-ft of torque and maximum towing of 32,000 lbs for the F-350? This will be very interesting.
