We take trailer safety seriously at TFLtruck and setting up your trailer for summer is a topic everyone should take seriously. Millions of people are about to dust off their trailers for spring and summertime use. While your trailer may not have moved since you put it into storage several months ago, many things may have happened during its slumber.
The video attached to this post gives you our top 5 tips on preparing your trailer for summer. Kent, AKA “Mr. Truck” and Andre, AKA, “Mr. Capi’tan” (he’s the only one of us that pilots a boat) take you through several steps in each safety topic.
Here are some of the topics we cover in each category:
Tip 1: Tires and wheels: Nitrogen, lug-nuts/torquing your lugs, air pressure and dry-rot.
Tip 2: Draining water lines: Draining anti-freeze, clearing lines, draining the bypass, flushing the system and using the water pump.
Tip 3: Battery maintenance: Working with “deep-cycle” 6-volt batteries, checking for corrosion and using distilled water.
Tip 4: Roof preparation: Proper movement on the roof, check vents, check seams and the edges and re-caulking.
Tip 5: Axle lubrication: Axle seizures, checking axle bearings, greasing the bearings and greasing techniques.
All of these topics are covered in detail in the video!
