2015 Cadillac Escalade

The 2015 Cadillac Escalade is one luxurious and spacious SUV. It’s loaded full of technology and comfort. It’s also rolling on 22-inch rims. However, power and performance are big parts of the luxury ride equation. Does the Escalade have the power to back up the looks?

The Escalade uses the biggest V8 in GM’s arsenal. It’s the 6.2-liter V8 that produces 420 horsepower and 460 lb-ft of torque. This example is also equipped with the 8-speed automatic transmission and the 4×4 system. We have tested a similar configuration in the Chevy Silverado and GMC Sierra trucks. However, the Escalade has more luxurious weight to haul around.

The 0-60 MPH tests are performed in 2WD mode for all trucks. We make two acceleration passes in both directions and pick the best time. For the braking test, we do three runs in the same direction to check for brake fade. The VBOX Sport is our measuring tool. It uses a high precision GPS technology to measure times, distances, and even g forces.

Nathan also did one handling lap to see how the adjustable magnetic ride suspension handles the turns. There are two settings: Touring and Sport. Nathan ended up leaving it in Sport all the way.

Watch how the Escalade did at the track.
